Ways We Give Back to Our Community

SUPPORTING THE UNITED WAY

Senior Citizens Center of Hendersonville is funded, in part, by the United Way of Sumner County (UWSC). We believe it is our community responsibility to give back to those who help us. By participating in the annual UWSC Workplace Campaigns, we as a center (staff, board and members) are able to show our gratitude by donating our time and efforts, as well as money to help further the cause of UWSC to they are able to help others as they have helped us! At the end of the campaign, we received the prestigious James W. Hawkins award for 100% participation. Our staff and board had 100% participation and many of our members contributed, as well! In addition, we collected over 300 coats for the Coat Drive held earlier in the year.

COOKIES FOR COPS

With all of the negativity being shown toward police officers and law enforcement officials, we thought a great way to show our support was our very first COOKIES FOR COPS program. SCHI members baked over 2,000 cookies for this program!! It was truly a heart-felt time to give these to our wonderful Police Department.

ACTION DURING TRAGEDY

In addition, when tragedy stuck the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and our neighbors in Gatlinburg were in need, Senior Citizens Center of Hendersonville served as a drop-off and collection point for items to send to Gatlinburg. Cots, clothing, toiletries, coloring books & crayons, small toys, cleaning products and supplies and so many other items were donated from our members, as well as members of our community and with a little help from our friends, were hand-delivered to our neighbors in need. We even coerced Academy Sports into helping with a donation of socks and a great price on the cots!

Show your support. Donate today.

Your donations help to keep the price of membership and programs to a minimal so that everyone who wants to participate can; and that means the world to so many of our seniors!
